Recreation Room
The Manor’s recreation room is located in the back of the building, and can be entered either from the rear deck or kitchen. It offers a regulation Ping Pong Table, a large T.V with a selection of D.V.R’s, musical and percussion instruments not found in the Main Houses Sitting Room, an additional stereo system supporting a wide variety of C.D’s, tapes and L.P.’s, for your listening pleasure. We will be glad to assist with any technological glitches. Although the Rec Room is set away from the Manor’s Bedrooms, common sense still prevails for the sake of the other guest’s quiet enjoyment. Most outdoor equipment is also located here.
Tropical Fish
A one hundred and ten gallon tank with a comfy chair awaits your viewing pleasure. Feeding time is around 8:00 P.M. Tell us of your interest or desire to feed them and we’ll round you up!
Our healthy aquarium often abounds with an overpopulation of baby and adolescent swimmers. If you have an established tank of your own, we will be glad to pack up a few live bearers and plants for your trip home.
Cards and Board Games, etc.
Located in the Sitting Room behind the door of the original staircase. Additional upscale games of Monopoly, Scrabble, and Backgammon are tucked away in the Sitting Room as well, where guests can hone their piano, guitar, flute and other musical skills alone or in concert with other likeminded guests. We even have conga drums and an accordion in the Rec-Room!
Music
Music lovers are encouraged to play, or simply try your skill on an array of musical instruments found both in the Sitting Room, as well as in the Recreation Room. Go on. Pick up that familiar sound you once played way back when, or take your time to experiment with something new.
There is also a wide assortment of sheet music available for your pleasure and/or purchase, along with related books on the subject.
Kindly keep the noise level down after 8:00 P.M. Thank you.
Moon Scope
Take a turn with this turn of the century Moon Telescope. View from either the Veranda or Rear Deck to see the full spectrum of our cratered cousin. The moon scope is a good compromise for offsetting street lights on route Seven, as alas, the stars here are seldom visible. But the moon, as well as some planetary movements¸ show clearly as a finely tuned bell. The aperture diameter neatly fits the moon and its halo (good for a lunar eclipse).
We seldom take the time to look skyward, in this fast paced technological world; a far cry from our ancient ancestors. Thoreau, where art thou?
Fire Places
There are four Fire Places and a Bee Hive Oven located throughout Berkshire Manor; two public and two private, and are available for your enjoyment.
Logs, etc. will be supplied for The Dr. Buell Room, on the first floor, and for the Dr. Preston Room on the second.
Management reserves the right to suspend the use of any of the Fire Places, without prior notice, as Safety always comes first.
